The Water and Wastewater Works Association of Kosovo (SHUKOS), established in 2001, plays a central role in supporting the development and professionalization of the water and wastewater sector in Kosovo. SHUKOS serves as a collaborative platform for all Regional Water Companies (RWC) in Kosovo and engages professionals across the sector in strengthening services, promoting standards, and driving continuous improvement.
The association works to enhance the capacities of water utilities through training, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy. Its mission is to improve the sustainability and capacity development in water and wastewater services in Kosovo, while promoting transparency, accountability, and regional cooperation.
SHUKOS also benefits from the energy and innovation of its Young Water Professionals (YWP) Group, a highly active and influential network that has made a notable impact on the sector by advancing public awareness, professional development, and cross-generational collaboration.
SHUKOS has been a proud member of the International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD) since 2012. In 2013, SHUKOS began intensifying its work in capacity development through the Danube Learning Partnership (D-LeaP), which has allowed the association to design and deliver structured training programs for water utilities and professionals across Kosovo.
SHUKOS is pleased to support the JAW campaign “Just add water”, which aligns perfectly with our mission to promote sustainable water management, professional pride, and regional cooperation. We believe that initiatives like JAW play a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of water and sanitation services and in fostering collaboration across the region.
